Madison Martinez / Gahanna Lincoln
Martinez secured the win against a deep 800m field that included four athletes who broke 2:12. Martinez's time of 2:09.51 represents an OH No. 1 and a US No. 15 for the 2018 outdoor season.
Jaydan Wood / Pickerington Central
Wood finished first in the 400m race due to her OH No. 1 / US tie for No. 16 time of 53.85. This is a new pr for the Pickerington Central junior and it should provide her with momentum as she enters next weekend's State Championship. Wood was the runner-up at State's in 2017, finishing behind Granville's Natalie Price. Price went on to have an excellent freshman campaign for Indiana University in Bloomington this year.
Steiner kept her undefeated streak in finals competition in tact for the 2018 outdoor season, as the Dublin Coffman senior recorded wins in the 100m and 200m races due to her times of 11.76 and 24.02. Steiner was coming off of exceptional performances in both events during the preliminary round. On Wednesday, she ran an OH No. 1 / US tie for No. 11 time of 11.49 in the 100 along with a 23.37 clocking in the 200. Her 100m effort in the prelims represents a new pr for the many time state champion.
Purcell won the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles races due to her times of 14.40 and 43.09. Her effort in the 300mH event represents an Ohio No. 6 and her 14.37 result in the 100mH prelims is the eleventh best result in the state this season.
Purcell, shown above competing in the 300m hurdles event, also took a pair of field event wins at the Division 1 Region 3 meet. The Lancaster senior jumped 5-6 and and 18-4.25 to secure first place in the high jump and long jump.
Siobhan Szerencsits / Olentangy
Szerencsits took the pole vault win with her OH No. 1 vault of 13-5. This is a new pr for the Central Michigan University signee. Szerencsits appears ready to vie for the State Championship victory next weekend. She placed fourth at State's in 2017.
