New Balance Nationals - Ohio EE And Freshman Round-Up

           Joe Spitzer / Versailles 

Joe Spitzer claimed the Emerging Elite 2 Mile win with his time of 9:24.06.  The recent Versailles graduate will compete for Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia during his freshman year.  

           Jared Prete / Amherst Steele 

Jared Prete placed second in the Emerging Elite hammer event due to his throw of 179-4.  The winner, Ridvan Kazimov (179-9), and Prete had throws that were over seven feet ahead of the athlete who took the third position.  

           Ryan Smith (center) / Archbishop Moeller 

Ryan Smith claimed third place in the Emerging Elite javelin competition due to his throw of 176-0.  This result represents an Ohio No. 1 and a new pr. 

           Grace Frye / Olentangy Orange (shown competing in the 400m hurdles event) 

Grace Frye kept herself busy during the three day meet; the Olentangy Orange rising senior competed in the heptathlon, as well as the Emerging Elite discus and 400m hurdles events.  With her throw of 131-3, Frye took third place in the discus competition.  

           Alex Justus (#4) / Kings 

Alex Justus recorded a time of 4:25.44 to place second in the Freshman 1 Mile race. 

           Emma Bucher (#5) / Centerville 

With her time of 4:57.61, Emma Bucher secured the Freshman 1 Mile victory.  She officially wrapped up an exceptional overall year where she was a factor at the Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor state meet's.  Bucher is ranked sixth in the country for freshmen in the 1 Mile event due to her 4:55.66 effort at the Rod Russell Mason Invitational in May.  

           Nathan Moore / Lake-Uniontown 

Nathan Moore placed second in the Emerging Elite 1 Mile race due to his impressive 4:16.67 clocking.  Moore, who represents Lake-Uniontown during the school year, would have been eligible to compete in the Freshman event.  His result represents a US No. 2 for 2021 grads during the 2018 outdoor season. 

Additionally, Jaeschel Acheampong and Korbin Martino posted exceptional results in their respective events.  Olentangy Orange's Acheamponng won the Emerging Elite long jump competition with his Ohio No. 9 jump of 23-4.25 and Canal Winchester's Martino earned the runner-up position in the Freshman 400m race due to his time of 49.61.
