Taylor Ewert Lowers Her American Junior 10K Race Walk Record

Taylor Ewert lowered her own American Junior 10K race walk record.

Ohio's Taylor Ewert had a big day at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.  Early this morning the rising junior from Beavercreek secured a tenth place finish in the 10K race walk event due to her time of 45:57.81.  This result represents a new American Junior record, dismantling the 49:07.52 mark that she already held from last month's USATF Junior Outdoor Championships.  Ewert, who also excels in cross country and the steeplechase, informed MileSplit that having the opportunity to race against the world's best has motivated her to take her training to the next level.

Taylor's break-down about competing at the U20 Championships:

My experience competing in Finland has been incredible and humbling!  Representing the USA Junior Team was so much fun and spending time with these talented athletes has been very motivational.  I was really able to appreciate how hard each athlete works at their events and the experience has left me excited and motivated for what the future holds.  I've learned that not only hard work, but also paying attention to all of the little details is what is needed to rise to the top.  My race was very hard, but I believe it proved to me what I can endure and what I can still improve upon.  Overall, the experience was great and I'm looking forward to getting right "back to the grind."
