Kyle Johnston recorded a time of 16:07.70 to claim the Large Schools Division II race win at the OHSAA Early Season Invite.
The Lexington senior improved upon his third place finish at last year's meet, where he posted a 16:17.80 result. Johnston, who broke 16 minutes on six occasions during the 2017 campaign, indicated after the race that he's determined to end his high school career in style. He's likely to contend for the DII State Championship win at the National Trail Raceway in November.
Johnston's time on Saturday was the second fastest of the day, trailing only Pickerington North's Matt Duvall who went 16:04.40 in the Large Schools DI race.
