The Scoop: Rankings Officially Shaken Up After Big Weekend


(MileSplit caught up with Zarik Brown earlier this season at Tiffin University) 

Wayne senior, Zarik Brown collected a pair of wins at the Capital University High School Meet. The Akron commit went 6.47 in the 55m contest and 22.64 in the 200. 

Brown's teammates, Justin Harris, Lucas Houk and Dylan Beaird also pocketed wins: 

Houk - 3200 (9:44.12) 

Beaird - Weight Throw (62-10.5)

Harris - 55 hurdles (7.72)    


           Makenna Heimlich / Shelby

At the Dave's Running Series #3 meet, hosted by the University of Findlay, Makenna Heimlich recorded an Ohio #4 time of 2:20.97 on route to taking the 800 win. In boys action, Sammie Bethea continued his strong indoor campaign by earning the 60m hurdles victory in 8.21. The senior from Mount Vernon is the state leader from a previous performance this season (8.05).

The deepest meet of the weekend occurred in Akron at the Jerome Fields Open. Among the many elite results that were recorded at the Stile Athletics Field House were top ranked state marks established by:

LaCarr Trent / Gahanna Lincoln - 60 & 200 (6.86 / 21.96) 
Caleb Brown / Shelby - 3200 (9:22.59)

Princeton Girls - 4x200 (1:45.99) 
Pickerington Central Boys - 4x200 (1:29.22) 
Dunbar Boys - 4x400 (3:28.23) 


           Molly Stecker / Hudson 

At the Oberlin College High School Meet #2, Molly Stecker took the high jump win due to her 4-8 clearance. The junior from Hudson, who has New Balance Nationals Indoor experience, was the 2018 D1 Indoor State Champion
