Bold Prediction 2
Ten Girls Will Go Under 25 in the 200m Dash Finals
Imagine boasting a 25.93 personal best in the 200 meter dash and yet entering a race as the 40th fastest seed. Well, that's the exact scenario for Elizabeth Seton's Jalen Jackson on Sunday.
The 200 is loaded and led by Brebeuf Jesuit (IN)'s Semira Killebrew. The heavy favorite in the 60, Killebrew also comes in with a 24.03 indoor personal best and 23.73 outdoor best. Lakota East's Serena Clark enters with a 24.67 best, Jaydan Wood (Pickerington Central) will bring a 24.72, Izzy Goudros (London Legion Track and Field Alliance) has run 24.82 indoor and 24.59 outdoor, and Aasia Laurencin rounds out the confirmed sub-25 entrants with her 24.95 best.
But that's only 5 of the 40 total entrants under 26. The depth is wild in this race and, we predict, will see as many as 10 girls break 25 seconds. Last year, only four did it in a field headlined by star sprinters Abby Steiner and Lanae-Tava Thomas.
