OATCCC Girls State Preview: Napoleon Sisters 1-2 In D1 800

D1 Throws

Event to Watch: Shot Put

Top 5 Athletes:

Alivia Bentley - Carrollton 44-8

Lenea Browder - Troy 44-5

Emma Kowalski - Hilliard Darby 41-9

Lacey Stringer - Gahanna Lincoln 39-7

Molly Radcliffe - Avon 39-5

It'll be an intense battle between Bentley and Browder on Saturday as the two duke it out for the shot put state title. Bentley was the runner-up last year and finished out her campaign with a 42-11, but finished out her 2018 outdoor season with a D1 state title in the shot and 45-11.25 heave. This weekend she will bring in a 44-8 best, but it is only 3 inches better than second seeded Lenea Browder from Troy.

Browder was the runner up in outdoor and boasts a better lifetime best at 48-6.5, but has thrown 44-5 indoor to sit just behind Bentley this season. She has won a title in her lifetime in the discus so she is no stranger to the big stage.

D2/3 Throws

Event to Watch: Weight Throw

Top 5 Athletes:

Kaila Barr - Waverly 49-4

Ella Rigel - Leipsic 44-11.25

Mackenzie Palinski - Gilmour Academy 41-11

Kennedy Flores - Columbus Grove 41-4.5

Jill Gemmer - Van Wert 41-2.5

Can anyone take own Kaila Barr? With a OH No. 1 49-4 heave, and almost 5 feet on the rest of the field, Barr is the heavy favorite to bring home her first career state title in the weight throw. After finishing 13th in 2018, Leipsic's Ella Rigel looks poised to make a huge jump as she is the only girl within 7 feet of Barr. After those 2 is a logjam of 10 girls within 3 feet of each other. Cracking the top 8 in this one will be tough!
