OHSAA state champion signs with CU cross country

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Coach Elvin King has added a key recruit to his 2009 women's cross country roster. Katie Gillespie, a graduate of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (CVCA), recently signed a letter of intent to further her education at Cedarville University and run cross country. Gillespie joins classmate Carolyn Case as new members of the Lady Jacket squad.

As a junior, Gillespie was an Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II state champion in both the 1,600 (5:02.42) and 3,200 (11:00.71) meter runs. She won the 2008 OHSAA Division II state cross country title with an 18:00.43 performance as CVCA earned the team championship. Gillespie also led her squad to district and regional championships last fall.

Katie is the daughter of Jim and Diane Gillespie of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
