Andrea Kovacs Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV

Andrea Kovacs was one of 20 student-athletes named Academic All-District IV At-Large for the 2008-09 season
John Carroll graduated senior Andrea Kovacs earned one last honor for his swimming career, as she was named to the ESPN The Magazine College Division Women's At-Large Academic All-District IV second team.

As voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Kovacs was one of 20 student-athletes selected to the all-district squad. The at-large classification covers the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo.

Kovacs, who was a repeat selection to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Women's At-Large winners list this season, graduated in May as a Psychology major with a 3.55 grade point average. She was a five time all-conference honoree at the 2009 OAC Swimming & Diving Championships back in February.

This is the first time Kovacs was accorded academic all-district honors.

Nominees for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American program must be key contributors in their sport with at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career. In addition, the student-athletes must also have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing.
