Team Ohio Assembles Deep Squad For Midwest Meet Of Champions

Sprints

One of the stars of the Division 1 State Championship meet, Denzell Feagin will line-up for Team Ohio in the 100 and 200 contests. The recent Pickerington Central graduate, who's riding high after pocketing four gold medals at State's, will bring impressive pr's of 10.55 and 21.34 with him to East Lansing.

Hurdles

Feagin's Pick Central teammate, Evan Matthews will join him for this weekend's all-star clash. The Ohio State bound Matthews capped off his decorated high school career with a 300H state title at Jesse Owens Stadium. During regional action, Matthews posted the nation's No. 1 time on route to an emphatic win.

Watch Evan Matthews drop his 36.12 effort at Pickerington North -

Distance

Beavercreek grad, Riley Buchholz leads a stellar list of distance stars that are ready to represent the Buckeye State. Buchholz really came into his own this season by netting big wins at the Eastern Relays (2000 Steepechase - 6:14.92) and the Wayne Invite (1600 - 4:20.00). The highlight of Buchholz's campaign occurred in Columbus last week, where he earned the Division 1 1600 state title with a 4:14.11 clocking.

D1 3200 State Champion, Vincent Mauri will test himself in his signature event this weekend. He went 9:07.47 at Jesse Owens Stadium in a largely solo effort, so it's realistic to think the Arizona State commit can break the elusive nine minute mark with favorable weather conditions and some company up front.

Relays

The versatile Terry Simuel will line-up for Ohio's 4x200 and 4x00 relay teams. Simuel, who has been competing on the state stage since his freshman year, can draw upon the big meet experience that he's acquired over the years at premier gatherings such as the VA Showcase and New Balance Nationals Indoor. The recent Southern Illinois commit has been apart of several state championship winning relay squads (indoor and outdoor) as a member of the Pick Central Tigers

200 and 400 Indoor State Champion, Zarik Brown will be a key member of Ohio's 4x200 and 4x400 relay units (in addition to his open 200 duties). Brown's long list of career achievements includes leading his Wayne squad to the team title at the 2019 Indoor State Championship. He'll suit up for the University of Akron next year.

Throws

Double state champion, Nolan Landis will lead the charge for Team Ohio in the shot put and discus events. Landis posted marks of 62-11.75 and 191-11 to net his big victories while closing his career at Madison.

Jumps

Anthony Bowman should be full of confidence heading into Saturday's high jump competition. The Africentric grad cleared 6-10 last weekend on route to earning the D3 State Championship win.
