Shelby rising senior, Caleb Brown outpaced a stellar collection of distance specialists on his way to winning the Championship 2 Mile contest at New Balance Nationals in a time of 9:04.18.
Brown's latest showing follows-up his outstanding Division 2 State Championship meet two weeks ago, where he took the 1600 and 3200 wins in times of 4:16.56 and 9:29.58.
He informed MileSplit following Saturday's race that after an opening mile of 4:42, "it was time to take the lead and start hammering it and not let off the gas." Brown did just that, as he produced a huge negative split to earn the victory. Next up for Brown will be the Championship 1 Mile on Sunday during the meet's final day of competition.
