Nearing the end of September, we can say that it's been a great month and change for in-state cross country action, with national level performances having been put up by teams and individuals on both the men's and ladies sides. Along with big efforts from Ohio's sophomores and upper-classmen, this season's freshmen have clearly made their mark in the early going.
At the top of the 2019 leaderboard for those who are new to the high school ranks sit Mentor's Savannah Dennison and GlenOak's Tommy Rice with 17:51.10 and 16:06.00 clockings, respectively. Following Dennison in the standings are seven girls who've gone under the 19 minute standard and for boys, the top 16 freshmen runners have all eclipsed 17 minutes.
