Joe Zucker and the Blue Streaks put together a team effort in winning the JCU Fall Invitational
The host Blue Streaks used a complete team effort to capture the title at the 2009 John Carroll University Men's Golf Fall Invitational , held Saturday at Fowler's Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio
Final Results
With four players in the top ten of the individual standings, the John Carroll "A" team placed first with a final score of 446, edging runner-up Mount Union which finished at 450. Rochester (455), Notre Dame (457) and the John Carroll "B" team (470) rounded out the top five in the nine-team field. The tournament was staged over 27 holes at Fowler's Mill.
John Angelo of Notre Dame won medalist honors with a score of 108, but John Carroll golfers would dominate the top ten.
Joe Zucker (Cleveland,OH, St. Ignatius),
A.J. Spalding (Stow, OH, Cuya. Falls Walsh Jesuit) and
Jeff Deal (Willoughby, OH, Willoughby South) all carded scores of 111 to tie for second, while
Blake Furgerson (Concord, OH, Lakewood St. Edward) (playong on the "A" team) and
Michael Witmer (on the "B" team) posted scores of 113 to tie for eighth place.
Dating back to the start of the 2007-08 season, John Carroll has now won 12 of the last 21 tournaments it has entered.
