After a scoreless first period, John Carroll got on the board in the opening minute of the second half, as Walton ripped a free kick from 30 yards out into the upper left corner of the goal.
Just over two minutes later, Walton struck again to give the Blue Streaks a 2-0 lead. Once again, she struck a free kick from nearly an identical distance, this time a low, hard shot just inside the right post.
Armed with a 2-0 lead, JCU appeared ready to seize its first win of 2009. But RIT would score twice in the final 17 minutes to deny that opportunity. Katie Higgins scored in the 73rd minute, while Kendra Shelters knotted the match in the 86th minute.
JCU outshot the Tigers, 4-2, in the two overtime sessions but could not tally the golden goal.
