Another one of Ohio's top recruits is off the board. Matt Duvall announced on Thursday that he'll be making his way to Lexington next year to represent the Kentucky Wildcats for cross country and distance track events.
The Pickerington North senior is one of a pair of athletes state-wide to have broken 15 minutes over 5k this season. His 14:57.90 effort at the Les Eisenhart Invite ranks second in Ohio to Caleb Brown and positions him at No. 37 nationally.
Last weekend at the Ohio XC Championships, Duvall picked up his first state title with a 15:13.0 mark in the Division 1 contest. This represented his eighth victory in nine starts during the 2019 campaign.
On the track, Duvall's forte is the 3200, where he owns a PR of 9:14.62. His career highlights include top 3 finishes in this event at both the OATCCC Indoor State Championship and the OHSAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship during his junior year.
