Toledo, OH - The University of Toledo women's cross country team is ranked 12th in the Great Lakes region, according to the first poll released today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Rockets have finished in the top-12 in the region eight of the last nine seasons. They opened the 2009 campaign with a dominant performance, taking the first five spots in a dual meet win over rival Bowling Green to record a rare perfect score.

"This is a great starting point for us," said head coach Kevin Hadsell. "But our hopes are that we finish much higher at the end of the season."

Toledo next runs at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at the William & Mary Invitational in Williamsburg, VA.
