John Carroll Women Place In Top Ten Of Both Overall And College Division Standings At National Catholic Meet

JCU earned a top ten finish in the overall standings for just the second time this decade

The John Carroll women's cross country team earned top ten placement in both the overall standings and college division standings at the National Catholic Championships, hosted by the University of Notre Dame at its own golf course in South Bend, Indiana.

Final Results

In the overall standings, Notre Dame claimed the title with 20 points, well ahead of Canisius(129), DePaul (150), Holy Cross (158) and Xavier (174). Bellarmine (178), Franciscan (228), Loras (281), John Carroll (294), and Detroit Mercy (308) round out the top ten.

As for the college division, Bellarmine took top honors with 77 points, followed by Franciscan (123), Loras (133), John Carroll (153) and St. Benedict (188).

Ashley Aberl (Toledo, OH, Notre Dame) was impressive again, as the freshman finished second among college division runners and 11th among all runners. Her time of 18:53.1 was better than the number one runners from Division I school such as DePaul, Xavier and Detroit-Mercy.

Emily Tillmaand (Xenia, OH, Xenia) was the next Blue Streak to finish, placing 19th in the college division and 41st overall with a mark of 19:30.7.

Tricia Doherty (Chicago, IL, Marist) and Megan Lutz (Oil City, PA, Venango Christian) also were top 100 placers in the overall standings. Doherty's time of 20:01.6 was 28th best in the college division, while Lutz was 42nd among small college runners with a time of 20:18.2.
