"On This Day" ...

On March 23rd of last year, Moe Abusway opened his season with a pair of emphatic victories in the 110 and 300 hurdles contests at his home invite, the Elite Meet

Abusway wasted little time in serving notice to hurdlers state-wide that he'd be a force during his senior outdoor season with Strongsville. He launched the 2019 campaign by producing 14.54 and 40.13 efforts in his signature track events.

Regarding the 110H, his win was the first of a torrid stretch of 15 straight triumphs (including prelims and finals competitions). As it turned out, unfortunately, Abusway had to withdraw from playoff action due to injury, putting a halt to a season that appeared primed for him to contend for the state title at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Stadium.

He eventually made one last appearance in the summer at AAU District Columbus, where he crossed the line first in the 110H qualifier. At that point, Abusway opted to forego the opportunity to contest the AAU Region meet and the Junior Olympics in lieu of staying at home to train in preparation for his freshman year at Columbia University
