On This Day: Colin Dillon Nets Hurdles Victories At Wayne

"On This Day" ...

On March 26th of last year, Colin Dillon opened his outdoor campaign in impressive fashion with a pair of 1st place finishes at the Wayne Small Invite

Not to be confused with the similarly named mecca that is the Wayne Invitational, which goes down on an annual basis deeper into the season, the Small Invite brought together around 10 squads primarily from the greater Dayton area.

Despite being relatively small in stature, as the name suggests, the meet's line-up included heavy hitters from Beavercreek, Belmont, Dunbar and of course the hosts, Wayne. All of whom were looking to get early season work in with hopes of fine-tuning their games for the big invitationals that would lie ahead.

Among that day's standout performers was the aforementioned Dillon. Then a senior at Miamisburg, and now a representative of Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, he left no doubt who would rule the hurdles races.

Dillon went 14.88 and 41.04 to help set the table for what would go down as a memorable 2019 season. He went on to produce personal bests of 14.19 and 38.44 and punctuated his high school career with a runner-up showing in the 110H contest at the Division 1 State Championship meet.
