Remote Learning Set To Continue, Sports Update Still To Come

On Monday afternoon, Governor Mike DeWine issued an order stating that schools throughout Ohio will continue with remote-based learning for the duration of the current academic year in efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus (Covid19).

Prior to DeWine's most recent announcement on the topic, schools state-wide were set to re-open on May 4th, with a track and field competition launch date slated for May 9th, however that plan was considered to be tentative, at best, and very much subject to change.

So what exactly does this latest news mean for the state of spring sports?

Well the writing appears to be on the wall, as it's widely expected that spring sports, track and field included, will be officially cancelled by the OHSAA sometime on Tuesday.

Evidently the state association has already communicated this plan with school administrators, but in the spirit of avoiding speculation until wide-spread facts are shared, we'll leave it at that for now and allow the process to fully play its course.

MileSplit Ohio will post an update on Tuesday once further information has been provided by the OHSAA. In the meantime, this is their most recent public message on the topic --
