Last season, the Falcons team finished 27th at the All-Ohio Championships and head coach Cami Wells was ecstatic about the improvement that the team made in finishing 15th.

Three keys in the improved finish were Chris Moody, Jason Salyer and Jesse Smuda.

Moody, a junior, crossed the finish line in 27:31.5 and finished 24th overall in the race. He was 10th among Division I runners.

Salyer, a freshman, followed Moody closely finishing 30th/11th in 27:37.4.

"Chris (Moody) and Jason (Salyer) had outstanding races," head coach Cami Wells said. "I was very pleased with how they ran.

"Chris has been consistent and this race was quite an accomplishment for Jason."

Smuda, another junior, was the third Falcon to complete the race as he finished 79th/30th in 28:23.0.

Junior Johnstone Kirui ended the race in 29:22.9 to take 145th/41st place.

Abraham Busienei, a junior, was the other BGSU scorer as he finished 169th/44th with a time of 29:59.9.

Sophomore Peter Miles (30:09.3; 179th/46th) and junior Jeff Ehler (31:15.4; 208th/48th) each raced in the
championship meet as well for the Falcons.

Ben Leininger (30:27.3; 96th) and John Bernard (30:38.8; 112th) both competed in the open race.

Some of the Falcons fell off toward the end of the race, but Wells was very pleased with how the players responded to some excellent competition.

"It was good for us to go against great competition," she said. "It should build our confidence before our next home meet."

The Falcons will have next weekend off before hosting the Falcons Invite on Saturday, October 17 at 11:30 a.m.

"We hope everybody will come out and watch the Falcon Invitational," Wells said.
