OHSAA Early Season Invitational Cancelled

(Division 2 Scored race from the 2019 OHSAA Early Season Invite)

On Wednesday evening, it was announced that the 2020 edition of the OHSAA Early Season Invitational has been cancelled due to health and safety considerations relating to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, August 15th at the new State Championship venue, Fortress Obetz, the meet was deemed unable to be conducted, as Franklin County is not currently approved to host large events.

"We are very disappointed that the event is cancelled and understand that there will be frustrations from our student-athletes, but we have to put safety first," said Bob Goldring, OHSAA Interim Executive Director.

The plan remains to launch the official start of the OHSAA regular season schedule on Monday, August 24th. Cross country running has been designated as a low-contact sport by the Governor's Office and the Ohio Department of Health.
