DELAWARE, Ohio - Katie Gillespie narrowly missed winning the individual title and the NAIA #5 Lady Jackets placed 6th in the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship.
Gillespie toured the 5,000-meter layout which is annually regarded as the toughest course on the schedule in 18:12. Officially, the freshman was 9/10 of a second behind the champion finishing 19 places higher and 67 seconds faster than the next rookie in the field.
Two-time NAIA All-American Lydia Wong recorded a solid showing finishing 13th in 19:10. Carolyn Case was 60th in 20:15, Neola Putnam ended up 70th in 20:27, and Rachel Wong was 79th in 20:36 to complete the CU scoring.
Hannah Lamos placed 134th out of 285 runners in 21:35. Abby Wong was 195th in 22:33.
The defending champion Lady Jackets totaled 224 points. Ohio State won the 42-team meet with 58. The rest of the top five included Miami, 75; Akron, 116; Cincinnati, 169; and Malone, 217. [RESULTS]
