All-Ohio Championships Provide Stern Test For JCU Women's Cross Country As Streaks Place 11th In Elite Field

With all the schools in all the divisions competing from across the state, the John Carroll women's cross country team received its sternest test of the season, placing 11th among Division III schools and 20th overall at the 2009 Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships held Friday afternoon at the Methodist Theological School and Delaware Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. 

Final results: Division III Team  /  Division III Individual

In the overall standings which featured Division I schools such as champion Ohio State, Miami and Akron, John carroll placed 20th out of 42 schools. In the Division III competition, the Blue Streaks were 11th out of 21 schools. JCU scored 241 points to finish off the pace of champion Case Reserve (70), Oberlin (94) and Baldwin-Wallace (134).

Amongst the Ohio Athletic Conference schools, the Blue Streaks finished fourth out of ten, bested only by Baldwin-Wallace, Ohio Norhtern and Otterbein.

Leading the way individually was freshman Ashley Aberl, who clocked in at 19:30.8 on the 5,000-meter course. her time was 27th among runners from all divisions, and sixth among Division III competitiors.

Senior Emily Tillmaand (Xenia, OH, Xenia) was next across for the Blue Streaks, as she placed 35th in the Division III competition with a time of 21:01.8.Tricia Doherty (Chicago, IL, Marist) just missed a top 50 finish, placing 52nd with a time of 21:20.2
