How fitting was it to have a tie for the boy's athlete of the week? For the first time in our history, we name two winners: Micah Wilson (Jr., St. Charles East) and Ryan Watts (Jr., Edwardsville). It was a tough fought contest in which both runners matched well via the vote. Wilson and Watts each collected 165 votes (38.73%) of the 426 total cast.
Wilson's winning effort was set up by a season-best 14:54 win vs. Naperville Central. Wilson is undefeated this fall.
Watts would not be denied in the quest for supremacy after winning the Belleville West Invitational by over 40-seconds in career-best 14:53.
Virtual comparisons seem to be the best way to compare top athletes to one another due to reduced sized meets and no Peoria Invitationals this fall. But perhaps we will see Wilson and Watts compete against one another at the Shazam Championships in November.
