Nathan Moore Talks Pocketing First State Title

Nathan Moore had been close to securing a state title out in the XC field and on the track a few times in the past, but had come up just short.

On Saturday at Fortress Obetz, however, the senior from Lake-Uniontown left no doubt. Coming through 1 mile joined by a fairly large pack and then with just Nathan Mountain as company at the 2 mile marker, Moore stepped on the gas in the latter stages of the contest and crossed the line first with a sub-15 minute clocking. 14:59.5 to be exact.

Moore expertly negotiated unseasonably warm conditions, a brand new course and the deepest field that the state of Ohio could provide on his path to victory. Strategy that was contemplated before the gun sounded, which included intermittent surges and close analysis of his competition paid off for Moore, as he concluded his Ohio-based cross country campaign with an unblemished record. Make it ten wins in as many outings.

MileSplit Ohio caught up with the Walsh University commit to debrief on all matters pertaining to his state championship winning performance. Catch Moore's post-race interview above and additional meet content below.
