Trevor Bassitt Posts Fast 60H Season Debut At Tiffin Open

There was no easing his way into the 2021 indoor season this past Friday at Tiffin's Heminger Center for Trevor Bassitt

The Ashland University senior posted fast times during 60m hurdles competition at the Dragons College Open in his prelims race, as well as his showing in the finals, both of which amounted to be emphatic wins.

So how fast were they? ...

He launched his day with a 7.83 mark in the preliminary round having those in attendance at the venue anticipating something rather special may be on its way. Said assumptions would turn out to be correct, as Bassitt clocked 7.79 in the finals en route to a landslide victory.

Specific to his finals effort, here are some statistics and historical context courtesy of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and from Bassitt himself.

An impressive achievement, most definitely, but not that it should come as any form of a surprise, however. Bassitt has enjoyed success across several events during his tenure as an Eagle and has National Championships, All-American distinctions and the PR numbers to prove it.

MileSplit Ohio caught up with Bassitt to hear about his season debut, his assessment of how the Ashland team performed at the meet and, most importantly, how good it felt to face live competition on the track again following the Covid-induced disruption of the 2020 indoor campaign and cancellation of the 2020 outdoor schedule.
