Nathanael Bentz Talks Journey To Hit 60 Feet

Nathanael Bentz kicked his 2021 indoor season off with a win in the weight throw competition at Mount Vernon's Jackets Holiday meet

Bentz, a senior from Wayne, produced a 51-8 mark to separate himself from event runner-up, Cole Ryan of Carroll (49-0).

Bentz opened his series with a 47 foot mark and felt like he had more in the tank, so he sped up his approach to chase a bigger number. That strategy paid off as his winning mark only narrowly trails his career best result of 52-5, achieved at last year's Cedarville Richey Tune-Up

When asked where he derives his motivation to improve, Bentz was quick to endorse the high caliber of coaching he receives at the Huber Heights-based school, along with the team's tight-knit group of throwers.

Watch Bentz's interview above, where he discusses his goal of hitting the 60 benchmark by season's end.
