Watch Colby Belczyk Go Sub-2 In The 800 At YSU

Riverside's Colby Belczyk became the first PA boy under 2 minutes in the 800 at Saturday's Youngstown State Meet #2 across state lines in Ohio.

Belcyzk, a senior, went 1:59.21 to take second in a competitive boys 800 on YSU's track. He steadily moved up in the field to take second. Sean Carney, an Ohio State commit from Hil. Darby (OH) took the win in 1:56.24.

For Belczyk, it's an early season PA No. 1 in the event. He had a strong end to his junior season last year in the 800, running 1:57.53 to take second at the TSTCA Championships and then running 1:57.01 to earn an eighth place state medal at Penn State. While it wasn't a PR effort on Saturday, it's a sign he's ahead of schedule.

There were a few other PA names in the YSU 800 on Saturday. South Fayette's Jake Borgesi was fourth in 2:02.05 and North Allegheny's Connor Foody (2:02.47) and Zane Kinne (2:02.89) were sixth and seventh, respectively.
