Amy Allen Drops 56.60 To Win 400 At YSU

Amy Allen picked up an impressive win in the 400 meters across statelines on Saturday. The South Fayette senior went 56.60 for the victory at the fourth Youngstown State meet of the season.

It's a solid PR for Allen, who moves up to US No. 29 on the season. Allen went 57.13 -- then her PR -- at YSU two weeks ago, so she saw a nice improvement on Saturday by over a half a second. Last winter, she won the TSTCA indoor title and went on to place seventh at the state meet in the 400.

Allen made up the stagger quickly and kept it rolling from there to win by over a second and a half over second place. Another PA athlete, Perry Irons of Germantown Academy/Team VA, came across second in 58.31 for a nice PR and PA No. 8 clocking.

Allen sits at PA No. 4 in what is another strong year for the quarter mile in Pennsylvania. Taliyah Booker's quick 55.45 from November stands as the fastest indoor time by a PA girl this year. Sanaa Hebron (55.55) is at PA No. 2, while Margaret Conteh (56.24) is PA No. 3.

Allen will likely chase more fast times at Adidas Indoor Nationals at Virginia Beach. But for now, watch Allen's win from Saturday below:
