Toledo Harriers Conclude Regular Season at Rocket Open

TOLEDO, OH - The University of Toledo women's cross country team competed in its final meet before the NCAA Regionals, hosting the Toledo Rocket Open Friday at the Ottawa Park Golf Course.

Senior Dagna Sztykiel (Bytom, Poland) led the Rockets with an 11th-place finish on the 5,000 meter course. She ran in a time of 18:47, and was followed by sophomore Liza Cholin (Oregon, OH) in 13th (18:57).

Also running for the Rockets was freshman Hannah Brisson (Casco, MI), who took 21st in 19:10; classmate Danielle Borowske (Kirtland, OH), who placed 23rd in 19:15; and sophomore Ali Fisher (Lebanon, OH), who finished in a time of 19:18, good for 24th place.

Rounding out the Toledo harriers was junior Megan Chambers (Rocky River, OH), who took 28th in a time of 19:54; freshman Lauren Fausey (Minster, OH) in 30th with a time of 20:01; junior Maureen Gibbs (Ottawa Lake, MI) in 31st (20:05); and freshman Kacy Crook (Hilliard, OH) in 20:28.

Michigan sophomore Mary Grace Pellegrini finished first in a time of 17:43. Michigan State and Eastern Michigan also sent runners to the Open.

The NCAA Regionals take place next Saturday in Bloomington, IN, with both the men's and women's team slated to compete.
