Collinwood's Amber Smith will become a Wolverine

Amber Smith of Collinwood has chosen to continue her education and track and field career at the University of MichiganSmith has the fastest returning times in the state of Ohio in all hurdle events (55m, 60m, 100m, 300m and 400m).  Smith is the two time defending Indoor state champion in the 60m hurdles and finished finished third in the 100m hurdles and second in the 300m hurdles, as well as being All-Ohio in the long jump last year at the Outdoor state meet.

 

Smith's time of 8.73 seconds in the 60m hurdles (which converts to 8.00 for the 55m hurdles) is the fastest returning time in Ohio and the eighth fastest retuning time in the nation.  In the outdoor events, Smith posted the fastest time in the state last year in 100m hurdles (14.16 seconds), and the 400m hurdles (1:01.61), while also posting the second fastest time in the state last year, and top returning time, in the 300m hurdles (42.63 seconds).  Smith's time in the 300m hurdles is the seventh best returning time in the nation.
