Moody Leads Falcons at Regional

Sat, Nov, 14 | Men's Cross Country

Chris Moody was the top BGSU finisher in every race this season.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Just as he has done for the entire season, Chris Moody once again paced the Bowling Green State University cross country team as he finished 106th at the Division I Great Lakes regional Saturday in Bloomington.
Wisconsin won the event as the Badgers had two of the top three runners and three in the top 15 to finish with 62 points. Jeff See, of Ohio State, won the race with a time of 31:03.16. The Falcons only had four individuals participating and therefore did not have a team score.
Individual Results

"I was pleased with the effort," head coach Cami Wells said of the team. "We had a much better race than at the conference meet."
Moody, a junior from Davidsonville, Maryland, crossed the finish line with a time of 33:41.07 in the 10K race.

"Chris ran a great race," Wells said. "He was strong throughout and he was close to breaking into the top 100."
Freshman Jason Salyer capped off an impressive rookie campaign with a 127th place finish as he ended up with a time of 34:09.43. The native of Tipp City, Ohio was the second individual to finish for the Falcons in every race this season.
Junior Johnstone Kirui (Eldoret, Kenya) was 183rd with a time of 36:06.92.
Sophomore Ben Leininger (Beavercreek, Ohio) finished his season with a time of 37:14.92 to end up 199th in the race.

"It was a good learning experience," Wells said. "We finished off the season well and accomplished what we came to do."
Junior Jesse Smuda (Deshler, Ohio) was unable to race due to illness. Smuda had been the Falcons' third best runner in every race this fall.
Wisconsin and Michigan State will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championship on November 23. Thirteen other teams from around the nation will be chosen to participate as at-large participants by the NCAA Division I subcommittee.
If their teams are not given at-large berths, Jeff See (Ohio State), Andrew Poore (Indiana), Madison Roeder (Butler) and Andy Baker (Butler) will race in the championship.
