CLEVELAND, OH - Three
Toledo cross country runners were honored today by the MAC for their
achievements in the classroom, as senior Dagna
Sztykiel (Bytom, Poland), sophomore Lindsay
Toussant (Minerva, OH) and junior Chris
Wall (Centerville, OH) were named to the 2009 Academic All-MAC teams.
Sztykiel is a business major with a 3.805 GPA, and this is her second-consecutive selection on the Academic All-MAC team. She was Toledo's
top runner in two races, finishing 33rd out of 378 runners at Lakefront
Invitational and 11th overall at the Toledo Rocket Open. Sztykiel also finished
28th overall in the Pre-Nationals Open race (23:04.30) and helped the Rockets
to a runner-up showing at the MAC Championships as she placed 35th overall.
Toussant has a 3.351 GPA while majoring in pre-med. She finished
second overall in the dual against Bowling Green, helping lead the Rockets to a
perfect score over their rivals. Toussant was also sixth overall at the Colonial
Inter-Regional Challenge as the Rockets took first out of eight teams. She also
placed 20th overall at the MAC Championships. This is her first selection to the Academic All-MAC team.
Wall carries a 3.930 GPA and is an exercise science major being honored for the second-straight year on the Academic All-MAC team.
He was a co-captain for the men's team who had a near-historic season. Wall was
UT's second-best runner on four occasions and third-best once, finishing second
overall in the dual meet win over Bowling Green and taking seventh overall at
the Mel Brodt Invitational, helping the Rockets place second. Wall came in
22nd overall out of 408 runners at Lakefront Invitational as Toledo finished
fourth out of 39 teams. He also finished 33rd overall at the MAC Championships.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have
excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at
least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the
contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college
transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
