Recapping Federal League XC Championships

Federal League Championships Results

The Federal League Championships proved to be one of the most competitive conference meets this past Saturday which included the teams of: Canton McKinley, GlenOak, Green, Hoover, Uniontown Lake, Massillon Jackson and Massillon Perry. At the Jackson Cross Country course, many great performances took place which left many teams and individuals with confidence heading into the postseason.

The varsity races were won by two individual standouts that have made their mark already this season. The boys varsity race kicked things off with senior Tommy Rice from GlenOak claiming the Federal League title for the second time in a row with a time of 15:08. Rice still currently holds the 3rd fastest time in the state. On the girls side, Daniela Scheffler from Uniontown Lake clinched the championship running 18:29. As just a sophomore, she has made great improvements this season by running over a minute faster compared to last year's meet.

The junior varsity races were won by Braedon Paolini from GlenOak and Sophia Reed from Massillon Jackson. Paolini broke the 17 minute barrier for the first time in his career, running a 16:57. Reed showed a strong performance as well, running a 21:02 and achieving a nearly 50 second season PR.

Massillon Jackson showed great team performances throughout the day, going six for six across both high school and middle school races. The girls of Jackson clinched their fifth consecutive FLC title and the boys have claimed the last four of six championships.

Many of these teams and individuals will look to make a deep postseason run beginning this coming weekend. All teams who competed at the FLC Championships will make their way back to GlenOak to run at the Division I District meet early Saturday afternoon.
