Recap: OATCCC Division I Indoor State Championships

Lady Lions Roar // Lancaster's Storm

Kicking us off for this recap of the OATCCC Division I Indoor State Championships will be our overall team champions, Gahanna Lincoln on the girl's side, and Lancaster on the boy's side.

Lady Lions Roar

Gahanna Lincoln - 62

Starting with Gahanna Lincoln, leading up to this day, they were consistently making statements across many events, and this past weekend was basically a mic drop on all of Ohio, with taking the gold in several events across the sprints, jumps, and relays.

Highlighting some of the lions, over on the back stretch of SPIRE's 300m track for the 400m, Kent State commit Amryne Chilton narrowly won the event with a huge indoor personal best of 56.51, which is almost 3 seconds faster than her time from last winter and is also over a second faster than her personal best from the previous outdoor season. This set her as OH #2, US #48.

Camden Bentley, who broke the state record in the 60m Hurdles very early in the season, continued her domination in the event by breaking the meet record in the prelims with an 8.44 and won the finals with an 8.46. In addition, she placed seventh in the 400m Dash, along with both the 4x200m and 4x400m Relays, in which Gahanna Lincoln ended up winning both of those.

Later featured separately as well in this recap, jumps specialist Daisha Decree took gold in both the long jump and triple jump, with a mark of 18-7 in the long jump, and 37-7.5 in the triple jump. Leading up to this and after as well, she's within the Top-5 for both events after this past weekend.

*Gahanna Lincoln's 4x200m and 4x400m were comprised of the same athletes.

Lancaster's Storm

Lancaster - 45

The Gales of Lancaster certainly whipped up a storm this past weekend, especially on the track and the pole vault pit.

Starting with their 1-2 finish in the pole vault, the senior duo of Daniel Edwards and Lukas Lang set the bar higher than the competition with their gold and silver finishes. Edwards won the event with a 16-0 clearance, which is an OH #1, US #25, while Lang cleared 15-9 for the runner-up spot. However, what was found amusing was that both of these guys now have the same personal bests in the event, and with Edwards' new personal best, they both share the OH #1, US #25 spot now.

Onto the track, their distance boys had quite a day, with the 4x800m Relay (Trevor Lanoy, Zane Schorr, Wes Taylor, and Colton Thress), kicking things off with a scorching time of 7:48.12 for the win, which is also OH #1, US #2. Later that day, Colton Thress had himself quite a time in that 800, taking the gold and setting a new personal best of 1:53.18, which is an OH #2, US #15.
