Rewind: 2022/2023 Indoor Season + Outlooks

Eli Ilg

Someone that I believe would be a, "Ones To Watch," or a, "Dark Horse," would be Mas. Jackson's Eli Ilg.

Despite being only a sophomore, he made quite a statement this past indoor season, putting up a performance of 9:08.89 in the 3200m Run at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet, and then later going all in with possibly one of the gutsiest performances I've ever seen in a race, as he took the 3200m at the OATCCC DI Indoor State Meet right off the gun and opened up a huge lead on the rest of the field for more than the first half of the race.

To top it off, he was ranked US #2 for sophomores in the event and tied for US #9 in the 1600m for his grade as well.

With how young he still is, and able to make himself known within the pack of the upperclassmen, we could see something special from him in these coming months, and years.
