FINAL STATS

Tonight, the Bowling Green State University track and field team took home top honors in the 2010 Jane Herrmann Invitational, held at the Perry Field House on the BGSU campus.

While facing Youngstown State, the University of Dayton and Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne, the Falcons won seven of the night's 16 events and placed second in three others.

Overall, the Falcons finished with 168 points.  Dayton finished second, with YSU and IPFW rounding out the event.

The Orange and Brown's top finisher for the night was junior Rachael Doughty, who won both a track and a field event.  In the 60m hurdles, Doughty improved upon her second place finish in last year's Jane Hermann Invitational by winning this year's event with a time of 9.13 seconds.  Tonight, Doughty also won the long jump, finishing ahead of 11 other competitors with a distance of 5.46 meters.

Both senior Sabrina Forstein and freshman Tatijana Jacobson also won field events.  Jacobson won her first event as a Falcon tonight by posting a mark of 1.60 meters in the high jump.  Meanwhile, Forstein won the pole vault with a top score of 3.65 meters.  Forstein placed second in the pole vault at last week's BGSU Challenge.

Freshman Janelle Campbell also had a successful evening, placing third in two events.  She placed two spots behind Doughty in the long jump with a mark of 4.98 meters.  In the triple jump, Campbell led BGSU competitors by recording a jump of 9.91 meters.

On the track side of the event, freshman Jeanette Pettigrew won the 60 meter dash for the second week in a row.  In this meet, Pettigrew's time of 7.73 seconds bested nine other competitors.  Freshman Jessica Grant finished in third place in this event, just two-tenths of a second behind Pettigrew.

Pettigrew also helped the Falcon 4x400 relay team to its first win of the season.  Along with Saisha Gailliard, Allison Weimer and Heather Conger, Pettigrew and the Falcons finished with a time of 4:06.56 to capture the event.

The final winner of the night was freshman Felicia Jefferson, winning her first event as a Falcon.  In the 200 meters at the BGSU Challenge, Jefferson finished fourth.  Tonight, she improved upon her time and won with a final run of 25.94 seconds.  Allison Weimer finished fourth in the event, with a time of 26.54 seconds.

In the middle-distance runs, Saisha Gailliard finished second in the 800m, finishing in 2:22.71.  She finished less than one-half second behind the event's winner.  Mindy Henry placed third with a time of 2:23.61.  In the 500m run, Danielle Thornton placed third (1:23.59).  Andrea Pereira de Almeida crossed the finish line just a quarter of a second later, in 1:23.85, which was good for fourth place.

In the long-distance runs, junior Barbara Powers stood out for BGSU and raced twice tonight.  In the one mile run, Powers crossed the line in second place (5:08.30), while she finished third in the 3000m run (10:37.51).

In the 5000 meter run, Megan Kelsey and Sally Kandie finished in second and third place, respectively.  Kelsey crossed the finish line in 18:46.54, while Kandie ran the event in 18:57.75.
