Maura Stepanski amassed three top five showings in the season-opening Mid-January Meet
John Carroll's sprinters and jumpers had a strong first meet of the indoor season Saturday at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January Meet in Berea.
Results
A pair of freshman had top five finishes in their collegiate debuts.
Maureen Creighton placed third in the the 55 Meter Dash. After a 7.70 in her preliminary race, Creighton posted a 7.66 in her final race.
Maribeth Keppler finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:05.10
In other track events,
Ryann Smith was fourth in the 500-meter run (1:27.18 1), while
Megan Lutz was seventh in the 1000-meter run (3:19.38).
John Carroll's 4 x 200 quartet had the top relay finish for the Blue Streaks. With Creighton as the lead and Keppler as the anchor, the foursome that also included
Alicia Giannell and
Maura Stepanski placed fifth in a time of 1:53.76.
Gianell and Stepanski also had big days in the field events. Stepanski was third (5.03-meters / 16-06.00) and Giannell (4.98-meters / 16-04.25) fifth in the long jump.
The triple jump had three Blue Streaks in the top six. Giannell was second (10.03-meters / 32-11.00), Stepanski was fifth (9.38-meters / 30-09.25) and
Cassandra Figueroa (9.33-meters / 30-07.50) was sixth.
JCU also had a top five placewinner in the high jump, as
Brittany Musa tied for fourth by clearing 1.47-meters (4-09.75).
