Anticipation

Frankly, it's looking to be shaping up to be an exciting time over in Division I on the distance side, not just this upcoming spring, but onwards as 6 of the 8 podium spots for the Girl's 1600m on Friday were taken by underclassmen; and with two juniors, it is almost certain we will see this lineup return next fall, winter, and spring to light up the trails and ovals once again.
Coincidentally, the Top-5 girls in the event all shared something in common. Each one of them were in the Top-12 at the OHSAA Division I State Championship back in the fall, which led with Fouts, Chapman, Reese, Heil, and Paschka.
To top it off as well, 7 of the 8 girls set new personal bests in this event, at least for the winter season.
Kaitlyn Reese (Avon 2026) and Marisa Heil (Lancaster 2025) are slated to compete at New Balance Nationals Indoor, with Ashley Alsko (Hil. Davidson 2025), is slated to run at Nike Indoor Nationals.
