We had the opportunity to speak with multiple-time (Sydney '00 and Athens '04) Olympic Games Silver Medalist in the 110m hurdles Terrence Trammell during our recent visit to Greensboro for the 2024 AAU Junior Olympic Games, held at NC A&T State University.
Trammell, now the sprints and hurdles coach on the Aggies staff, reflected on his brilliant track career, which, in addition to three trips to the Olympics, included World Championships experience in 2003, 2007 and 2009, as well as World Indoor Championships outings on four occasions, where he primarily contested the 60m hurdles event. In 2006 at Moscow, Trammell lined up for the 60m dash.
He reviewed his upbringing in the sport, his transition to the coaching realm and his long-standing history with American hurdles legend Allen Johnson.
Trammell also helped to showcase the spectacular event that is AAU JOs and commented on its importance for the development of youth track and field athletes nation-wide.
