Ohio -- The Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OATCCC) announced last Friday a divisional alignment expansion to four divisions for indoor track and field.
The adoption of the new four division structure will be instituted immediately for their association sponsored 2025 indoor track and field season and this change will carry forward into future years.
In the association's continued pursuit to provide the best possible experience for Ohio's track and field athletes, the expanded format will lead to a higher level of participation at the OATCCC Indoor State Championships.
"The OATCCC recognized that the time is right to expand the number of Indoor State Meet divisions from two to four," said Anjanette Whitman, the President of the OATCCC.
"The update provides more quality opportunities for our athletes to showcase the incredible talent we have in Ohio."
"The Indoor Track & Field division expansion is just one example of how the OATCCC uses an innovative and forward-thinking approach to promote our hard-working athletes and the coaches who selflessly support them."
"We look forward to implementing more innovations as the needs arise," Whitman said.
The latest change to the make-up of the indoor season follows other significant developments implemented in recent years including the move to the spacious SPIRE Institute venue in 2018 for the annual state meet and the inclusion of a division for seated athletes at the championships in 2024.
