Blue Streak Men Make Dramatic Improvement At All-Ohio Track & Field Championship

RK Glover nearly launched himself to a school record with his second place finish in the triple jump at the All-Ohio Championships
Last year, John Carroll was just an afterthought as far as the Division III All-Ohio Indoor Track and Field Championships were concerned.

This year, the Blue Streaks made an impact, finishing 11th out of 18 teams in the "by qualification only" event held Saturday at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio.

Results: All-Ohio Championships / B-W Mid February Meet

The 2010 championships were a dramatic improvement from 2009, where John Carroll scored just six points and finished 19th.

This time around, John Carroll had six point scoring efforts and finished with a tally of 21.50 points.

The best effort of the day was turned in by RK Glover, who earned All-Ohio accolades with a second place finish in the triple jump 43-08 (13.31 meters). His mark was nine inches shy of a school record.

JCU had two point scorers in the long jump. Mike Minjock was sixth with a distance of 21-04.75 (6.52 meters), while Bryan Wideman was eighth (20-09 / 6.34 meters).

Mike Hlatky also earned points in a field event, placing in a tie for seventh in the high jump by clearing 6-2 (1.88 meters).

John Carroll had two relays earn points as well. The 4 x 200 (names unknown) finished sixth in a time of 1:34.55, while the 4 x 400 quartet placed fourth in 3:26.86.

The Blue Streaks also had representation at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-February Meet Friday night in Berea, Ohio. JCU's best event that night was, fittingly enough, the triple jump. The duo of Kyle Fiegel and Steven Kedzuf placed third and fourth, respectively. Fiegel cleared 40-07 1/2 (12.11 meters) while Kedzuf achieved a mark of 39-07 1/4 (11.90 meters).
