Individual Accomplishments Stand Out On Busy Wekend For JCU Women's Track & Field

Maribeth Keppler turned in a strong effort for JCU at the Greater Cleveland Meet
The John Carroll women's track & field team faced tough competition this weekend at both Baldwin-Wallace and Kent State, but many of its individual accomplishments made up for the lack of points.

Results:  Greater Cleveland  /  Kent State

At the Greater Cleveland Colleges Meet Friday night in Berea, John Carroll placed sixth out of six teams. The Blue Streaks tallied 53.50 points, well off the pace of team champion Case Western Reserve which ended up with 161.50 points.

Maureen Creighton and Stephanie Charlillo both scored points in the women's 55-meter dash. Creighton was sixth in 7.66, while Charlillo was eighth in 7.77.

Creighton also placed third in the 200-meter dash (27.08).

Maribeth Keppler pulled down a seventh place showing in the 400-meter dash (1:04.30) while the trio of Ryann Smith (1:25.89), Tara Knight (1:25.99) and Katie Skelly (1:26.81) were fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 500-meter run.

Megan Lutz continued her impressive winter season by dropping 11 seconds of her seed time in placing third in the 1,000-meter run (3:08.51).

John Carroll also enjoyed success in the long distances. Kelly Grive was sixth (5:37.89) and Emily Tillmaand was eighth (5:41.92) in the mile, and Katherine Spillman was eighth in the 3,000-meter run (11:14.70), dropping nearly 20 seconds off her best time.
