NEW ORLEANS, La. — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its 2009 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Cross Country Teams Monday (March 8) afternoon, and Marietta College earned the honor for the eighth straight season.

Head Coach Derek Stanley's squad claimed a fifth place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship and a 26th place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet this season. The cumulative grade point average for Marietta was 3.24 during the fall semester.

A total of 153 Division III women's programs received the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team honors this year. All ten of the top ten teams and 23 of the top 25 teams at this year's NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, it must have competed and compiled a team score at a NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average.
