Schneider, Conger Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week

Mon, Mar, 29 | General, Men's Golf, Women's Track and Field

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are golfer Matt Schneider and track and field runner Heather Conger.

Male Athlete of the Week
Matt Schneider, a senior from Grand Rapids, Minn., won his third career tournament this weekend, carding a 213 (71-71-71) at the BSU Cardinal Classic in Jasper, Ind. The Falcon senior won the tournament by five shots. With the win, Schneider now ties Ken Walters (1972-75) for most tournament wins in school history.

Female Athlete of the Week
Heather Conger, a junior from South Euclid, Ohio, helped the Falcons to a second-place finish at the Toledo Collegiate Challenge. Conger won two events on Saturday, taking home top honors in the 800 meter and 1500 meter runs. In the 800 meters, she finished in 2:21.25, winning the race by four seconds. Conger's time in the 1500 meters (4:41.24) was 1.6 seconds faster than her nearest competition.
