Ohio natives Sophia Szolosi and Elena Aldrink concluded the 2025 cross country season in style on Saturday in San Diego by earning All-American honors at the Brooks XC Championships Presented By Fleet Feet.
Szolosi, an Athens High School senior and Duke University commit, secured 4th place overall in a time of 17:19.2, while Olentangy Liberty senior and University of Washington recruit Elena Aldrink produced a 17:44.3 mark to finish in the 12th spot.
Race winner Natasza Dudek (1), Maddie Gullickson (6) and Emma Hoffman (11) also scored for the victorious Midwest team, who stood on top of the podium with 34-points. The Northeast squad trailed narrowly behind in second at 37-points and West and South rounded out the standings with 70 and 78-points, respectively.
Szolosi split 1 mile in 5:17.8 running in the 6th position and went through 2 miles in 11:05.2, where she moved up to 5th. She continued to ascend the leaderboard en route to her 4th place finish.
Aldrink was 11th after 1 mile in 5:19.7 and 14th after 2 miles in 11:19.9 before pouring it on over the final mile and change to move up 2 spots for her official 12th place finish.
The Brooks XC Championships represents the end of a long and successful campaign for Szolosi and Aldrink. They racked up numerous accolades throughout the late summer and fall and each authored OHSAA state meet wins, Division 2 for Szolosi and Division 1 for Aldrink.
Both competitors figure to be major factors in their distance events of choice for the upcoming 2026 OATCCC Indoor and OHSAA Outdoor track seasons.
