Falcons Take Road Show To Athens On Saturday

Thu, Apr, 08 | Women's Track and Field

The Bowling Green State University track and field team will attempt to build on the achievements of the season's first two outdoor meets as they travel to Athens, Ohio on Saturday for the Ohio Women's Team Challenge.

After placing second at the Toledo Collegiate Challenge, the Falcons traveled to Kalamzoo, Mich. last weekend for the Jack Shaw Invitational.  Both Tatijana Jacobson (high jump) and Sabrina Forstein (pole vault) won their events for the second week in a row, while Heather Conger set a personal best time in the 800 meters.  The Falcons earned a third place finish, despite constant rain and heavy winds.

The weather should be much better this weekend, with Athens-area forecasts calling for sunny skies, comfortable temperatures and light winds on Saturday.

The April 10th meet will see Bowling Green face four opponents.  Aside from Ohio University, the host school, the Falcons will try to outscore Toledo, Marshall and the College of Charleston.

Team scoring for the meet will be as follows: ten points for first place, eight points for first place and six points for third place.  Points then decrease by one for each finish, through eighth place, with is worth one point.

Saturday's festivities will begin at noon and will continue late into the afternoon, with the last event scheduled for 5:30 p.m.  The complete schedule of events is below, including Falcon participants for each event.

This will be the first of two consecutive weekend trips to Athens for the Orange and Brown.  On April 16 and 17, the Falcons will compete in the outdoor All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Ohio University.
