Falcon Relay Team Wins As Hillsdale Relays Continue

MEET RESULTS
At the 2010 Hillsdale Relays, seventeen different teams entered the 4x800m relay, including two Falcon squads. The race produced a team victory and two top-five finishes -- the best results of Friday's action for Bowling Green State University's track and field team.
The group of Autumn Dettman, Saisha Gaillard, Barbara Powers and Heather Conger outpaced all other efforts in the relay by posting a time of 9:12.61 for BGSU, winning by just shy of two seconds.
The second Falcon squad, consisting of Mindy Henry, Ashley Fischer, Carly Wells and Katie Borgelt, finished in 9:28.99 to claim fifth place.
Several other Falcons competed in yesterday's events.
In the high jump, freshman Tatijana Jacobson claimed sixth place by leaping 1.65 meters (5-5.00). Her jump was just four inches shy of that of the eventual winner.
Fellow freshman Brooke McCombs took part in two events. In the shot put, McCombs completed a toss of 12.47m (40-11.00) to place seventh. McCombs earned a 12th place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.98m (147-7).
Also competing in the hammer throw were Kristin Boettcher and Ashley Harris. Boettcher's throw of 51.92m (170-4) put her in sixth place out of 47 event entrants, while Harris finished 16th after a toss of 43.64m (143-2).
Abby Koch, a freshman from Stow, Ohio, ran the 5000m Invitational and completed the run in 30th place out of a field of 84 runners. She ran the 5000 meters in 18:13.18.
In the 10K Invitational, both Sally Kandie and Andrea Pereira de Almeida finished in the top half of a group of 42 entrants. Kandie's time of 37:47.48 earned 16th place, while de Almeida finished 21st after posting a time of 38:39.52.
The Hillsdale Relays continue today, and the schedule of events is posted below, with Falcon competitors in each event included.
