MEET RESULTS

At the 2010 Hillsdale Relays, the Bowling Green State University track and field team put together strong efforts across the board, and those efforts ultimately culminated in several top-five and 15 top-ten finishes in a variety of events.

The best performances of the weekend belonged to the relay teams.  BGSU entered teams into the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relays, and the Falcons earned top-three finishes in each event.

In the 4x800 relay on Friday, two Falcon squads finished in the top five.  Autumn Dettmann, Saisha Gaillard, Barbara Powers and Heather Conger combined to win the event, BGSU's only win of the weekend, with a time of 9:12.61.

The team of Brittani McNeal, Jeanette Pettigrew, Felicia Jefferson and Jessica Grant almost joined the 4x800 team in victory on Saturday.  In the 4x100 relay, McNeal and her teammates completed the race in 46.84 seconds -- just five one-hundredths of a second behind the Hillsdale team that finished first.  The time was also just a half-second off of the school record, which is 46.33 seconds.

Allison Weimer joined in the fun along with Jefferson, Conger and Gaillard to compete in the 4x400 relay.  In this event, the Orange and Brown placed a strong third out of 12 teams.  Their time of 3:54.75 was just four seconds off of the winning pace and was BGSU's best time of the season in the 4x400 by over seven seconds.

Pettigrew, McNeal and Weimer also excelled in the 200 meter dash.  The three combined to finish fourth, fifth and sixth consecutively in an event with 70 entrants.  Pettigrew recorded a time of 25.69, while McNeal (25.78) and Weimer (25.79) finished with virtually identical times.  Pettigrew and Weimer both set personal records with their times.

In the 3000 meters, junior Megan Kelsey also earned one of the high marks of Saturday's action.  She placed tenth after a run of 10:59.88.

Autumn Dettmann and junior Rachael Doughty also recorded top-20 finishes in individual track events.  Dettman's season high time of 2:19.10 in the 800 meters was enough for 16th place in a 71-person field, while Doughty finished 12th out of 43 entrants in the 100 meter hurdles.  Her time was 15.42 seconds.

Falcons competed in three different field events on Saturday, and each event featured at least one top-ten finish for BGSU.

Senior Sabrina Forstein continued her pole vault success by recording an outdoor personal best mark of 11-7.75, which resulted in a 9th place finish out of 39 entrants.

Both Brooke McCombs and Ashley Harris finished in the top-ten in the discus.  McCombs placed sixth with a throw of 132-02, while Harris' toss of 123-11 earned ninth place.

Also earning a top-ten was junior Paige Lane in the javelin.  Lane's mark of 99-9 earned tenth place in a field of 43.

Three other Falcons secured top-ten finishes in field events on Friday, including Kristin Boettcher, who recorded a personal best score in the hammer throw on the way to a sixth-place finish.

BGSU will return to action next weekend, as they prepare for the outdoor MAC Championships, which are now just three weeks away.
